About Megan
Current Board Trustee, Public Defender, and Mother
Megan is running for reelection to the Visalia Unified School Board because she is deeply committed to the education and well-being of our students. As a Public Defender, she has honed critical skills in advocacy, negotiation, and problem-solving, which she brings to her role on the school board. Her professional experience ensures that she approaches issues with a keen understanding of justice and fairness, advocating for policies that support every student's right to a high-quality education.
Education runs deep in Megan's family. Her mother, grandmother, and husband have all dedicated their lives to public school education, instilling in her a profound respect for the teaching profession and an understanding of the challenges it faces.
As a mother of daughters who attend school within VUSD, Megan is personally invested in the quality of education and the environment that shapes their futures.
Megan was born and raised in Riverside, CA. She attended the University of California Santa Barbara where she obtained her B.S. in Environmental Studies. She obtained her Juris Doctorate from the University of San Francisco, School of Law. While in school, she met her husband, Carlos Soleno. Carlos was born and raised in Visalia, CA. She and Carlos are currently raising three wonderful daughters, Paloma (Age 7), Bianca (Age 5), and Inez (Age 2).
